A small but critical section of Kingston’s waterfront trail will soon be more accessible to the public.
This portion of the trail behind the old psychiatric hospital was closed — because it was no longer deemed safe.
That left a steep pathway beside it….as the only way to get around the old coal dock.
But now the city has worked out a deal with the federal government to repair the pathway.
The work is expected to take about a month to complete at a cost of 130-thousand dollars.
“We won’t be travelling around the width of the dock and opening the balance of the dock up to the public but we be able to have a nice accessible route that’s flat and doesn’t go through other parts of the psychiatric hospital site and really stays close to the water along the entire water front.”
