KINGSTON – Tonight community members will have an opportunity to give their input to help shape the secondary plan for North King’s Town. A draft report will be presented at an open house at 7 o’clock at City Hall. The report will include the findings from consultation exercises that took place over the last few months. Some of the ideas that will be discussed include expanding different modes of transportation in the area, improved access to the waterfront, and extensive redevelopment in specific hubs. This plan was ordered by council to address the fate of the wellington street extension. The final draft will be presented to the planning committee later this year.
Greg Newman/Manager of Policy Planning, City of Kingston:
“A lot of the reason for the project came out of the discussion around the Wellington Street extension. That lead to the need to look at a lot of things that are important to the local context in the area. So we are using this as an opportunity to have a conversation and talk about the ideas that people want to see us move forward with.”
