The Kingston-area high school sporting season got underway today with girls field hockey. Also this week its girls basketball, some football, golf, and boys volleyball.
When you talk about boys volleyball — you talk about Regiopolis/Notre Dame — and in particular the senior team.
Mark McKenna/Panthers Head Coach
“We’re learning — we had an introductory tournament on Friday and then we’re getting ready to go away to Waterloo and we get to see the best teams in the province so we’ll know a little bit more about ourselves and the rest of the province from there — so it’s definitely early-on in the season — we have things to work on — we’re getting better every single day in practice and we’re going to hopefully continue that.”
And that’s bad news for the rest of the league. The senior Panthers are the 11-time defending KASSAA champs. The long-time bench boss looks forward to Tuesday’s regular season opener.
“Always good competition and a chance for everybody to get involved and play. You learn through play and sometimes you learn through failure too and definitely you have to break a few eggs to make an omelette -early-on there’s a chance to break some eggs and hopefully make a delicious omelette at the end.”
