Concerned residents form group to oppose proposed Third Crossing Bridge

Kingston, ON, Canada / CKWS TV

KINGSTON – A group of concerned citizens have formed a city-wide group to oppose the proposed third crossing bridge. The group consists of close to a dozen residents from both the east and west ends of Kingston. They`re calling on the city to provide complete and accurate information about the capitol costs and projections for ongoing maintenance. Test drilling is still underway below the Cataraqui River and along the possible connecting points of the bridge, at John Counter Boulevard and Gore Road. There will be a third crossing open house next Thursday. The group says public debate needs to be at the forefront of the discussion.

Derek Complin/Member of “No Third Crossing”:
“At this point and time with the city pushing people to decide what colour bridge to they want, what material they want it made from… do they want a washroom on either end and a look out in the centre — we ask ourselves… Just a moment. Let’s talk about the money. What’s it going to cost the taxpayer.”
