Queen’s University Postdoctoral researchers took their fight for a new collective agreement to the street today.
Dozens of members of Public Service Alliance of Canada Local 901 called for contract talks with the university to resume during a midday rally on campus.
The main issues in the dispute are wages and benefits. Many of the Postdocs are parents and cannot afford child care.
In an effort to kick start the talks the union will hold a strike vote for members later this week and early next week.
“And we’re not seeing the deal we need to ratify a contract, so we are taking a strike vote mandate from the members which will determine what our future action will be.” – Craig Berrgold, PSAC Local 901
