Equestrian Championships raise 20K for United Way

Kingston, ON, Canada / CKWS TV

You may recall Kingston police hosted the “North American police equestrian championships” in September, and today, the Kingston-area united way got a nice cheque from it.

The municipal police force presented the campaign with a cheque for 20-thousand dollars.

Police raised the money through ticket sales, auctions and sponsors of the event, which was held inside Kingston penitentiary.

Police say they had a number of reasons for making the united way the charity of their choice.

Gilles Larochelle: “There’s nothing worse than seeing a family struggle, or as it was mentioned at the press conference, seeing a child go to school without having a good meal. How can a child focus? So that’s where we see the benefit of United Way.”
