No one was hurt — after a small fire at a Kingston seniors home last night. Fire crews were called to the “Kingsdale Chateau” Retirement home off Centennial Drive around 7:30. The fire started in an attic on the north side of the building. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames quickly — but some residents were forced into the night air as a precaution. All have returned to their homes.
Fire crews remained on scene for about an hour. Damage is minimal at around 5-thousand dollars.
Officials believe the blaze was caused by some recent renovation work.

“There had been some heating materials that were being utilized to waterproof the exterior of the structure. We’re quite confident as there was no other ignition sources located within the area of origin of the fire that this loss was unfortunately was a direct result of some continuing maintenance on the facility.”
