NAPANEE – Napanee residents have been waiting more than 10 years… but finally the doors to the town’s new Community Health Centre are open.
Hersh Sehdev/Executive Director:
“Exam rooms. It has family exam rooms. We also do telemedicine work over here. Offices for social workers, diabetes programs, group rooms, advanced foot care, dental.”
There’s also a dedicated space for The Indigenous Health Program…including a healing lodge… unique to Community Health Centres in Ontario.
Heather Senoran:
“The concept for a community health centre in Napanee was first developed in 2005. For the last 7 years, the centre served local residents at a temporary site. Then in 2011 the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care provided 6 million dollars for this new facility.”
Christine Brown is a Nurse Practitioner at the new facility but has been working for the centre through the entire transition period and is thrilled with the final result.
Christine Brown/Nurse Practitioner at NACHC: “The space is a fantastic space. The brightness and the lightness of it all keeps the energy flowing here. It’s a professional, warm environment. I love the staff. I love the clients.”
The Napanee clinic is part of Kingston Community Health Centres.
Providence Care also partnered to contribute to the cost to make this new site possible.
At the opening ceremony many called the facility… a dream come true.
A multi-service, inclusive, accessible, central centre that puts patients first and it’s evident in their motto… To care. To Respond. To build community.
