No injuries after train hits car

A Brockville man and his two children escaped a near tragedy on the drive to school today.

Police say the man got his car stuck on some ice on the tracks at the Bartholomew Street crossing just after 9 a.m., as a freight train was approaching.

The man got his two children out of the car and moved them a safe distance away.

He then attempted to push the vehicle off the tracks but was unsuccessful and had to get himself to safety.

The car was destroyed, but there were no injuries.

Four level crossings in were blocked for about two hours while police investigated the crash.
