A Kingston based apartment and condominium developer has begun exploratory work at a site in downtown Kingston.
Homestead Land Holdings has started archeological testing in the parking lot located at King and Queen Streets, behind the former S&R building.
The Downtown Kingston BIA says work is expected to be done in phases to minimize any disruption to public parking.
No more than 25 percent of parking spaces will be blocked off at any given time.
Homestead has made a proposal to the city to build a 21 storey apartment building on the site.
