It was a chance to recognize Kingston’s national champions….the Cataraqui Curling Club rolled out the red carpet for a very special and talented team….
On behalf of his workship, Mayor Bryan Patterson, council and citizens of Kingston–and the Cataraqui Golf and Country club.. .I bring praises of congratulations to the Traveller’s Club National curling championship champions–Cataraqui’s Team Ontario…
This is the championship team of Wesley Forget, Graham Rathwell …David and Sandy Staples…. nicely back from Kelowna B.C…..where they finished the tournament with an undefeated record of 8-0..
We were playing really well and we got the right amount of breaks–we have to give a lot of credit to our skip, Wes–he played pheonominal all week –definitely the best skip in the field.”
“I think we all felt that you have to be lucky to be good..every Brier or national winner will tell you that..a long the way –in the provincial, or round robin someone will miss a shot –or you make a great shot to win a game and the one year that all falls into place is the year you win it and this is the year it happened for us, 100 per cent.”
“Ya, its a dream come true–even to win Ontario and have your name on a championship together but to win Nationals is something I’m going to remember for the rest of my life and I’m going to get to show my kids, my grand kids when they come to the club.”
