Greg Barr passes away

Kingston, ON, Canada / CKWS TV

It amazes me to this day how Junior ‘C’ hockey clubs survive this economic climate…..how hard it is—to make ends meet….ice time–league fee’s—–transportation–referee’s and so much more…
Teams rely heavily on sponsorship’s–gate reciepts and volunteer’s….the Amherstview Jets are mourning the loss of one of there biggest volunteers—-Greg Barr—who was laid to rest today….succumbing to leukemia at the age of 69….

The Jets will pay tribute to Greg Barr at their next home game….Monday afternoon…January 2nd at the W.J.Henderson Arena…12.30 against the Port Hope Panthers……

Greg was a staunch supporter and coach in Kingston Minor hockey then joined Mason Budarick and his management team in Amherstview….for almost 20-years he served in different capacities from general manager–director of hockey operations–team president—and executive board member….I knew Greg well, and for him it was all about the kids—his work was a labour of love…the Provincial Junior ”C’ Hockey League–in particular—the Amherstview Jets…..will miss his hard work–his sense of humour…and his passion for the sport….
To his wife, Sherril, and children—Tracy and Steven—our sincere condolences…..
