Belleville woman arrested after collision with stolen vehicle

A 29 year old Belleville woman has been charged after an attempted robbery, auto theft and a collision.

Police say that at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday a woman who had just parked her car on Bleecker Avenue was accosted be another woman who demanded her car keys.

The woman refused and the suspect went into a nearby business.

There she is alleged to have taken car keys from an employee’s coat and then drove off in an SUV.

Just before 10 a.m., police were called to a two-vehicle collison on Highway 62 at Vermilyea Road.

One of the vehicles involved was the stolen SUV.

The driver of the stolen vehicle was arrested and charged with attempted robbery, auto theft, driving without a licence and making an improper left turn.

She is expected in bail court today.
