Jets pay tribute to Greg Barr

Kingston, ON, Canada / CKWS TV

On Monday afternoon at the W.J Henderson Arena, the Port Hope Panthers won their 27th consecutive game…beating the Amherstview Jets 6-3.

The game was played in memory of Greg Barr who recently passed away. The Jets will truly miss there long time executive member.

Don Ley/ Jets President

Its going to have a major impact on our team–he was a close friend..I’ve been with Greg since 2003 when I joined the executive–were the last two from the 2003 executive remaining—we’ve had more people come on but he brought a lot of experience to the team..a lot of hockey knowledge–he worked with the OHA very well on our behalf..he did all the paper work and was there for recruiting as well..he was a great guy for the team–he’s going to be a big loss to our organization ..its going to be very difficult to fill the place behind him….Greg taught me a lot about hockey..I was not a hockey player when I was young–I always liked to manage and organize..and that’s my strength so Greg taught me a lot about hockey–about sportsmanship…we built this team around commitment —us being committed to the players who signed here….the Amherstview Jets have always committed to the team aspect—we don’t release players too often and Greg was a big part of that..making that commitment to the player if they made a commitment to us..Greg was a great friend..he will be truly missed around the rink.
