Kingston city councillors could take an important step to building a new parking garage in the downtown.
They’ll be voting tomorrow on whether to free up one million dollars from its parking reserve fund.
The money would be used to undertake a series of studies — laying the groundwork to construct a multi-level garage on the Byron municipal lot, near Queen and Montreal streets.
The city is trying to replace roughly 270 surface parking spots in the downtown core that will be lost to future developments
“It’ll be engineering studies and soil management studies and the like that will set the stage for parking whether it’s now or ten years from now.”
