Brockville General Hospital has declared an enteric outbreak in one of its units.

Affected patients are isolated in the “1 East Unit” and the hospital’s infection control team has implemented a cleaning and containment plan to limit the infection’s spread.

While the hospital is not closed to visits, BGH strongly advises family and friends of patients to limit visits until the outbreak is over.

Gastro enteric infections affect the stomach and intestinal tract.

They can cause nausea, vomiting and stomach cramps.

The infection typically clears up within three days.
