Polar Plunge Raises Over $40K For Special Olympics

Kingston, ON, Canada / CKWS TV

AS PART OF THE FINAL DAY OF FEB FEST, MANY KINGSTONIANS BRAVED THE COLD IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE, ALL FOR A GREAT CAUSE.

OVER 80 PEOPLE JUMPED INTO LAKE ONTARIO FOR THE POLAR PLUNGE TO RAISE MONEY AND AWARENESS FOR THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS. A GROUP OF ‘PROFESSIONALS’ WERE JUST SOME OF THE PARTICIPANTS THAT LEAD TO THE OVER 40 THOUSAND IN DONATIONS.
EVEN THOUGH IT WAS FREEEEEZING, MANY SAY IT WAS WELL WORTH IT.

“One of the ladies I work with, her son is part of the Special Olympics, and she is just a huge supporter of it…
So, she talked me into doing it… It’s not so bad!”
” I’m jumping in because I want to donate to charity. I think it is a great cause and I’m here with my brother. I’m the ‘getter-doner’, he’s the ‘chicken-plumber’!
I think it is a great event and it’s a great experience!”
