Local chiefs ‘sock it’ for a good cause

The heads of three high profile organizations were flaunting their footwear this afternoon.

The chief of police, Kingston fire rescue and Frontenac paramedic services spend a few moments promoting a new initiative called ‘sock it to us’.

The goal is to raise more than 75-hundred socks for those in need.

With the rising costs of heat, hydro and food people often times might not be able to afford proper foot apparel.

Michelle Hiebert: “800 thousand Canadians use food banks every month. Sock are the least donated and most needed item. They’re currently distributed to ten organisations across Kingston and what we’ll do is contact them anytime we have socks available. We’ll ask how many they need and what they’d like then we pass them out to them.”
