The Rideau Heights community hub is finally starting to take shape.
The steel beams that make up the skeleton of the structure were put up earlier this week.
The hub is the first part of a decade-long plan to revitalise the Rideau Heights area.
It was have a community kitchen, gym, as well as shared office and work space.
City staff are hopeful that the new community hub will have a similar effect to the surrounding area that other new municipal buildings have had – like Artillery Park.
Adam McCluskey: “Long term, you build these community hubs and it’s to attract investment into those areas. So that’s definitely part of the plan. Artillery Park is a great example, it’s probably the second busiest building in our entire portfolio next to the invista centre and it’s a lot smaller, so it’s definitely successful.”
