The excitement is building for 5 members of the Kingston Figure Skating Club…they look forward to the provincial championships later this week in Port Colborne…..
“Well, competing of course, and just seeing how everyone else skates–there the best people in Ontario so that’s really cool…I practise 5 times a week –once in the morning–and its really tiring sometimes but its really fun and I like it and you get to hang out with friends.”
Karissa Cummings is coming off a first place finish at the Eastern Ontario’s.
“Well, its hard work and it takes a lot of time and committment…I practise 5 times a week and sometimes six….I like how athletic and artistic it is and I like doing both of those things.”
“I’m excited to go to Ontario’s because its always a game changer because you go out of your section to compete against skaters you don’t normally compete against so I’m excited…I like skating because I started at 3 and a half years old–I felt its passion and I loved it…My mom was a figure skater and also she’s my coach but also there’s ton’s of cool tricks and I just get to have fun.”
“Well its exciting and its going to be pretty challenging because all the really good skaters are going to be there…If you work hard and set goals and try to achieve them…and sooner or later you’ll achieve them…I’m just hoping to have fun and just do what I practise here.”
Also competing is Andy Chen..he’s a favourite to medal in the pre-juvenile under-13 category
