The first ever Kingston Pickleball tournament was held over the weekend at RMC and it was deemed a huge success..
“We can’t believe the success–were overwhelmed–were going to do another one in August and it will be triple the size because we have so much interest–we have people who want to come in from the States as well so its getting bigger and bigger and it continues to grow in Kingston.”
It’s a lot of fun..it was easy for me to pick up coming from other sport backgrounds like badminton, tennis and volleyball.”
That’s Matthew Kawamoto from Ottawa..he’s regarded as one of the best Pickleball players in the country
Pickleball started in the United States–because its an easier sport to pick up–I think more people are getting into it for that reason and as soon as you pick it up its so addictive that people just want to play it..I know some people who play every day of the week.”
“One of the interesting things about Pickleball is that its inclusive–if somebody has a handicap or a challenge–we don’t exclude them–they can play on the same court as everybody else –we have rules to accomodate everybody so again its a very inclusive sport and if there are people out there who see this and want to try Pickleball–its the Kingston Pickleball Club..come on out..its free to try it out and see if you like it.”
