The contract for a new fire hall in South Frontenac Township is going to tender despite the cost estimate being higher than the mayor would like.
Officials are optimistic that construction will start sometime this year on a piece of vacant land acquired by the Township. It’s located just North of Perth Road Village, near Wilmer Road.
Last December, South Frontenac Council approved a one million dollar fire station even though the architect said the price tag may be closer to 1.4 million. The mayor says he’s confident the project will stay within budget.

“We’re pretty confident. We have a lot of contractors that work in our community, our area that have said they would be more than eager to bid on the fire hall. And they are very good contractors. We’re hoping that that [the fire hall] doesn’t exceed that number.”
