It’s crunch time for a group of local dancers – excitedly rehearsing for an upcoming celebration.
The India-Canada Association of Kingston is holding their annual heritage day on Sunday, March 26.
In honour of Canada’s 150th, the celebration will include music, drama, and dance performances showcasing not just Indian culture, but a fusion of others as well.
The association says events like these are important for the community to be apart of.

Deepak Kumar/Program Coordinator, Heritage Day 2017:
“Canada is a country of immigrants, right? We bring so much diversity, we have so many different cultures… and we celebrate them.
The kids who are born here, they really don’t know about those cultures, right, so working through such events, they get an opportunity to learn about those, to celebrate those, to work with other kids.
So, it’s just an all around development for them, and they get to know their culture, from where they come from.”
