Motorists react to 15 cent hike at the pumps

Kingston, ON, Canada / CKWS TV

You may have noticed a change at the pumps. Yesterday the price of gas shot up across the country.

It seems that’s the case whenever a statutory holiday pops up on the calendar.

The price of gas in Kingston is currently a dollar 21 a litre

But in Belleville the cheapest gas is a dollar 4 a litre — and in Brockville the price of fuel is also a dollar four.

Motorists filling up in Kingston say at this point a hike at the pumps is just par for the course.

“It adds to my overall expenses that I’m trying to cut down on all the time, along with the hydro. I don’t know whether I should say this, but we go to the rez to get our gas because it’s always 10 cents more in Kingston.”

“The prices always goes up on Tuesday. I’ve noticed before too. Tuesday and Wednesday it’s always up then on Fridays it goes down again.”
