Hwy. 401 construction in Kingston set to begin

From the Ministry of Transportation:

As you are aware, construction has started on the expansion of Highway 401 from west of the Cataraqui River up to, and including, the Highway 15 interchange.

Highway 401 westbound will be reduced to one-lane starting at approximately 7 p.m. tonight until 6 a.m. tomorrow morning. Speed will be reduced to 80km/hr during the lane closure. Motorists can expect lane closures at night this week and throughout construction which is currently scheduled to finish in 2020.

There will also be ramp closures at the Highway 15 interchange during construction. These ramp closures will happen at night periodically throughout construction. The schedule for ramp closures has not been finalized. The public will be notified prior to any ramps being closed and only after the schedule for closures is final.  Ramp closures will be coordinated with the City of Kingston and Parks Canada to try and ensure that Kingston Mills Road and/or the Causeway are not impacted at the same time.

Please be patient during this time. Follow the signing in place for lane closures and speed reductions throughout construction.
