Expectations are high this summer for the Kingston Clippers in the Ottawa-Carleton Premier Women’s Soccer League…
The ladies can’t wait to kick-off a new season…

“I think were all excited to be back outdoors and playing outside–full field soccer..and were all looking forward to the season to come–everyone is a little rusty but we’ve got a few exhibition games coming up and people will work everything out and be ready for the season….we have a blend of girls–we’ve got some girls who have graduated from Queen’s–some current Queen’s players–a few youth Kingston players and even girls from RMC and St.Lawrence College so I think were just trying to learn each others styles of play and each others strengths and work together as best as we can.”

“With 5 years of university soccer under her belt, Burton believes she has a lot to offer her new team

” I think as an attacker–I can score goals–that’s a goal of mine every time I step on to the finish something and put the ball in the back of the net–I think as well some leadership–being one of the older players on the team and a player with a lot of experience in this Ottawa league and the university league so just a little bit of leadership and experience as well.”

With players like Emma Lefevbre and Brittany Almeida on the squad, Burton believes a league title is definitely possible

“I think so–I think we have as good a shot as any team and its great that were starting this early and I think we have great potential if morale and commitment stays high.”
