“I think were all excited to be back outdoors and playing outside–full field soccer..and were all looking forward to the season to come–everyone is a little rusty but we’ve got a few exhibition games coming up and people will work everything out and be ready for the season….we have a blend of girls–we’ve got some girls who have graduated from Queen’s–some current Queen’s players–a few youth Kingston players and even girls from RMC and St.Lawrence College so I think were just trying to learn each others styles of play and each others strengths and work together as best as we can.”

“With 5 years of university soccer under her belt, Burton believes she has a lot to offer her new team

” I think as an attacker–I can score goals–that’s a goal of mine every time I step on to the field..to finish something and put the ball in the back of the net–I think as well some leadership–being one of the older players on the team and a player with a lot of experience in this Ottawa league and the university league so just a little bit of leadership and experience as well.”

With players like Emma Lefevbre and Brittany Almeida on the squad, Burton believes a league title is definitely possible

“I think so–I think we have as good a shot as any team and its great that were starting this early and I think we have great potential if morale and commitment stays high.”
