Trucker charged in fatal Hwy. 401 collision

A Quebec truck driver is facing charges after a seven vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Kingston that resulted in the deaths of four people.

The fiery crash happened at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday in the westbound lanes near Joyceville Road.

Police say the collision involved four transport trucks, a commercial truck and two passenger vehicles.

One of the smaller vehicles burst into flames, leaving the four occupants dead.

Two other people were taken to hospital.

Dunhill Tabanao, 37 has been charged with four counts of dangerous driving causing death and two of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

The four deceased have not been identified.
