A 27 year old Picton man, convicted of animal cruelty, has been given a 10 year ban from owning animals.
In early January, the Ontario Society for the Prevent of Cruelty to Animals received a report of a dog in distress.
Investigators found an emaciated Rottweiler-type dog in need of immediate veterinary attention.
The five year old dog had kidney disease, ear infections and was infested with worms.
Due the seriousness of the condition the dog had to be put down.
Wesley McGrayne pleaded guilty to permitting animal distress on May 5.
The ban on owning animals does not include McGrayne’s two cats, but he will be subject to two inspections each year by an OSPCA officer.
He must also produce vet records to show the cats getting regular examinations.
