KCVI Wins KASSAA Senior Boys Soccer

Kingston, ON, Canada / CKWS TV

The Kingston-area high school senior boys soccer final was also played at Richardson Stadium.

Here’s Doug Jeffries.

(Sound bite…..)

It’s the Blues from Kingston Collegiate Vocational Institute against the Ernestown Eagles from Odessa..making there first appearance in the final in over 20-years.     And the scoring came early.
In fact just minutes into the game — Noah Frymire finds the back of the net.     The Blues could easily have been up by more if not for the play of Eagles goalkeeper Will Huyck.     Huyck was at it again in the 2nd half — making save after save.     Meanwhile at the other end — there’s KCVI’S Alex Beamish with the stop.     But in the end — the one goal was all they needed…the Blues win there first KASSAA title in 7-years.

Nuri Amari/Blues’ Co-Captain

“I think what really pushed us through is our ability to work together.     We weren’t always the better team or the more skilled team through-out the season but because of our ability to work with each other and for each other — that really pushed us through.”

Graeme Workman/Blues’ Co-Captain

“We were in the Finals too — we lost a tough game against Holy Cross so we always knew we had the potential to be back here — but this one feels good to win.”
