One arrested, second suspect sought after failed robbery

One man has been charged and a second is being sought by police after a failed robbery in downtown Kingston.

Police say it happened at about 6 p.m. Wednesday on Clergy Street.

A woman was walking behind two men who suddenly stopped and one pulled a knife.

It’s alleged the men demanded the woman’s purse and tried to grab it.

After a brief struggle both men fled empty handed – one on a bicycle and the other on foot.

A short time later a 22 year old Kingston man was arrested and charged with robbery, assault with a weapon and possession of weapon.

The second suspect is a white male and about 20 years old.

He is tall and slim, with short dark red hair.

The victim was not injured.
