Quinte West O.P.P. and the sexual assault centre for quinte and district are partnering to reduce sexual assault in the region.
Police say sexual assaults spike during this time of year and both organizations want that to change.
From the middle of this month to the middle of july both organizations are engaging and educating the public about the impact sexual assault has on the the individuals assaulted and their friends and families through the focus patrol initiative.
“We thought if there’s a way to try and reduce sexual assaults or at least make people aware of what is sexual assault, how they could recognize the signs, how they could support someone that’s been victimized and show them where the resources are available and how the police might respond that that would encourage people to seek help.”
