Paul McFarland/Florida Panthers Assistant Coach
“It’s been really special. I’ve enjoyed my time in Kingston more then I ever thought I would.
Mr. Springer — Doug and Darren have been unbelievable to me — they really did let me do my job and coach. I know my family — my wife and my two kids absolutely love it in Kingston and they’re fronts fans for life from our group — there’s no question.”
He leaves the Black and Gold after 3 winning seasons — guiding the team to their best finish ever in 2016.
“There’s a lot of things I think we’re proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish in Kingston the last couple years. Number one — I think there’s a winning culture there now — I don’t think they’re satisfied getting into the playoffs — especially this team that we had last year being able to win game seven in overtime with the amount of young players we had — I think that’s a great experience for the organization moving forward and need to go through those things in order to win long term — so I’m probably most proud of that fact. But I know we’ve been able to develop some players that have gone on to play at the next level — university for that matter and I think we’ve definitely as a group have developed young men and that’s one of the most important things in junior hockey.”
