Near collision with police cruiser leads to charges

A 28 year old Kingston man has been charged after driving at double the speed limit and almost crashing into a Kingston Police cruiser.

Police say it happened at about 11:30 p.m. Monday on Division Street near Railway.

A southbound car traveling at about 100 kilometres per hour attempted to pass other vehicle and almost crashed into an oncoming police car.

The officer turned around and gave chase, but lost sight of the vehicle, which was later found in an Elm Street driveway.

The driver was arrested and taken to police headquarters where he blew two and a half times the legal limit.

He is charged with dangerous and impaired driving.
