Raising the Peace Tower Flag at Fort Henry Hill

Kingston, ON, Canada / CKWS TV

Kingston –  The flag pole at Fort Henry Hill will be flying a special flag in celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday.  The fort will be raising a Peace Tower flag that belongs to local public historian Arthur Milnes.  He was given the flag back in 2012 when he hosted former President Jimmy Carter and his wife.   The flag hasn’t been flown since doing so above the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill in the fall of 2012.  Milnes says seeing the flag on top of Fort Henry Hill Saturday means a great deal to both him and his wife.  Adding if you’re willing to wait – you too could own a Peace Tower flag.

“I believe it’s a 62 year waiting list but you’re allowed as a quote ordinary Canadian and if you have a Canadian citizenship the government of Canada, the parliament of Canada will put you on a list and someday even if you’re dead you’ll have one of these special flags.”
