Saying farewell to three Kingston Catholic Schools

Kingston, ON, Canada / CKWS TV
It’s not your average last day of school at Holy Family. Boxes are being packed up and prepared to be moved to the brand new school being built on the same grounds…set to open this September.

“The three schools that are coming together under one roof are St. Peter’s Catholic School, St. Patrick Catholic School and Holy Family Catholic School. And in September they will come together as one–St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School.”

Students from all three schools gathered to unveil the new School Crest and Logo. These students had a hand in selecting both.

Jordan Vandusen- Holy Family Student:
“We tried to pick one that would suit the school best and kind of go with the name.”

River Valente-Morrow, St. Patrick Catholic School Student:
“I liked it, it was fun because I got to participate in something for the new school.”
And while heading to class at a brand facility this fall is exciting–it’s also a bitter sweet time.

Charlee Malette, St. Peter’s Student:
“It’s a little bit sad because I’ve been there since Kindergarten and I know a lot of people there. It will be sad but it’ll be good to make new friends at the new school.”

318 students from kindergarten to grade 8 are expected to make the move this September. Over the next two months Holy Family will be demolished to make way for a parking lot and landscaped front entry for the new St. Francis of Assisi.  The area that will welcome these students when they return to class this fall.
