Job losses are coming to Brockville General Hospital as it continues a push toward a balanced budget.
The hospital has announced its laboratory will be integrated with the Kingston Health Sciences Centre’s lab.
The move means that seven full time equivalent positions will be eliminated.
An email statement from the hospital says it’s hoped the reductions can be achieved through early retirement to avoid layoffs.
Some staff may reassigned.
The integration also means the hospital will part company with Dr. Naguib Yassa at the end of October.
He has been with Brockville General since 1999 as pathologist and department chief.
