Kingston Frontenacs name new head coach

The Kingston Frontenacs have named a replacement for formed head coach Paul McFarland.

After what hockey operations president Doug Gilmour calls an “extensive search” he announced on Thursday that Jay Varady will take over behind the bench of the OHL team.

Varady comes to Kingston after four seasons with the Sioux City Musketeers of USHL, where he led the team to two consecutive conference finals and one championship.

He also has head coaching experience with USA Hockey’s junior program.

The Frontenacs also announced an administrative realignment within the club.

Gilmour becomes president of hockey operations and Darren Keily is the team’s new general manager.
