The Ontario provincial Police are offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of whomever was responsible for Roy Thompson's death.

Police say Thompson, 42, died Nov. 14, 2008 of a single gunshot wound while hunting in Tyendinaga Township.

Suicide was ruled out and police say it is not a murder investigation. Police are calling it an accidental shooting.

Thompson was from the Belleville area but was living in St. Catharines at the time of his death.

Police say sometime between about 6 AM and 6:30 AM Thompson went out to hunt.

 

Thompson's body was found around 10 PM, on an open deer run, about two kilometres north of Blessington Road and a kilometre south of Harmony Road.

The property is bordered by Shannonville Road to the west and Weese Road to the east.

Investigators have determined Thompson died sometime between 9 a. m. and noon.

Anonymous tips should be directed to Crime Stoppers at 1- 800-222-TIPS (8477). Such tips are eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
