UN seeking $187 million to aid cyclone survivors in Myanmar
May 9, 2008UNITED NATIONS - The United Nations is seeking $187 million from donor countries to help cyclone survivors in Myanmar.
UN officials said Friday the pledges are needed to provide food, water purification tablets and other supplies for at least 1.5 million people over the next three months.
Myanmar's UN ambassador says his country intends to co-operate with the international community.
But, he says, the response has to be orderly and systematic.
