Super-Money for Superbowl ads

THERE ARE ONLY A FEW DAYS LEFT UNTIL THE SUPERBOWL.

1/30/2013

THERE ARE ONLY A FEW DAYS LEFT UNTIL THE SUPERBOWL.

THE ANNUAL MECCA OF FOOTBALL IS ALSO A BIG NIGHT FOR ADVERTISERS

.EVERY YEAR, COMPANIES PAY MILLIONS OF DOLLARS FOR 30-SECOND ADS

DURING THE BIG GAME.

BUT THE QUESTION REMAINS: HOW EFFECTIVE ARE THE COSTLY

COMMERCIALS?

NEWSWATCH'S PAUL SOUCY FINDSOUT.

IN PREPARATION FOR SUPER SUNDAY .. SPORTS SHOPS LIKE THIS ONE HAVE BEEN CLEARING OUT THEIR NFL STOCK ... A USUAL TREND THIS TIME OF THE YEAR.

MIKE KNOX:

"Regardless of the teams, some teams are better than others. But no matter what we have for either team, it always sells out every year." AND WHILE FANS ARE SHELLING OUT BIG BUCKS FOR NFL GEAR ... BIG COMPANIES ARE SPENDING

MILLIONS

ON SUPERBOWL ADVERTISEMENTS.

KEN WONG:

"Let's understand the advertising is

terrifically expensive. 3.8 million dollars for a thirty second spot."

IT SEEMS LIKE A HEFTY PRICE TO PAY FOR ONLY THIRTY SECONDS ... BUT EXPERTS SAY IF THE COMMERCIALS ARE EXECUTED RIGHT THE PAYOFFIS HUGE

Ken Wong:

"Kia wanted to establish itself as a legitimate car company. As something that had sufficient size, that people wouldn't worry about buying a Kia automobile - advertising on the Superbowl was a very good way of doing that."

SO WHEN PUSH COMES TO SHOVE - WHAT DO PEOPLE CARE MORE ABOUT - THE GAME OR THE ADS?

STREETERS:

"I watch it for the game because it's more entertaining."

"Yeah I think I pay more attention to the commercials than the actual game."

"I have to say I care more about the game, definitely."

Paul Soucy/Reporter:

"NOW THE UNFORTUNATE PART OFLIVING

NORTH OF THE BORDER IS WE DON'T GET TO SEE THE ADS UNTIL THE NEXT DAY.

BUT THANKS TO SITES LIKE YOUTUBE THE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS COMPANIES PAY FOR COMMERCIALS DOESN'T SEEM SO BAD WHEN CUSTOMERS CAN WATCH THEM OVER AND OVER AGAIN WITH THE CLICK OF A BUTTON.
