IT'S DAY TWO OF FEB FEST -- WITH THE EMPHASIS ON SWEET TREATS.
NEWSWATCH'S MAEGEN KULCHAR CHECKED OUT SOME OF THE FUN ACTIVITIES AT KINGSTON'S 9TH ANNUAL WINTER FESTIVAL.
For many people like Tanner, getting a Beavertail in downtown kingston is something he looks forward to every winter.
Tanner:
"I love peanut butter and chocolate, its my favourite combination"
It's a one of a kind treat many people line up in the cold for, and one that Colleen Lance has been serving up at Feb Fest for the past five years.
Colleen Lance:
"it's just a tasty treat, and there's nine different toppings you can put on the beavertail."
Including banana, caramel, and chocolate.
Chris:
"They are warm and chocolately and scrumptious"
But that's not the only sugary treat being served up.
This year, with help from Harper
's burger bistro, le chien noir and Atomica, local
Maple Syrup from Elgin was warmed and served up on a stick at Confederation Park....
Shawna Langille:
"With the lack of snow we lost the snow maze this year, so here's one more thing that the kids could do."
Kid:
"mmmmMaple syrup"
Kid2:
"cause there's maple syrup"
MAEGEN KULCHAR:
"This year
's debut of the maple candy turned out to be a good hit for the kids but after talking with them, they still say their favourite thing about feb fest is the ice slide. An element of Feb Fest that is putting
a smile on these kids faces.
kids:"It's really fun!"kids:
"it's pretty awesome because i have never been on a ice slide"
The ice slide is expected to be open all weekend,
along with live bands performing in market square Friday and Saturday.
As for the maple Candy, crews will be downtown again tomorrow from 11 to 3, serving up more of the sugary treat.
