May 16, 2008

PARIS - A French police official says authorities in France, Germany and the Netherlands have detained 10 people in a probe into suspected Islamic terror financing.

The official says police are trying to determine whether the suspects helped finance Islamic militants in Uzbekistan.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the arrests publicly.

The official says the suspects were detained Friday in Mulhouse in the east of France, in the Rhone region in the south, and by authorities in Germany and the Netherlands.
